The Qatar-Finland International School (Q.F.I. School) is truly an international learning environment providing education for 4-18-year-old students from kindergarten to Grade 12. The school has been operated by EduCluster Finland since 2014 and follows the Finnish National Core Curriculum, with adaptations to the local Qatari context. The language of instruction for all grade levels is English. Q.F.I. School is a unique hub of educational expertise consisting of international (34%) and Finnish (66%) pedagogical staff.

Head of School

EduCluster Finland is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Head of School for Qatar–Finland International School. If you are ready to pursue an exceptional leadership career, we invite you to apply for this senior leadership position.

The Head of School will provide strategic and instructional leadership for the entire school community, fostering academic excellence, wellbeing, and continuous development.

Job Description

Vision and Strategic Leadership

  • Articulating and leading a clear vision for the future of the school
  • Implementing and upholding high standards of the Finnish educational approach within the Middle East context
  • Leading and supporting the continuous development of the school

Ministry Relations

  • Managing and maintaining all official relations between the school and the Ministry
  • Coordinating teacher training initiatives and other joint projects with the Ministry

Board of Trustees

  • Serving as a Member of the Board of Trustees
  • Preparing Board of Trustees meeting agendas and providing regular reports and updates

EduCluster Finland (ECF)

  • Reporting to EduCluster Finland in accordance with agreed requirements
  • Sharing responsibility for the school budget and procurement in collaboration with the EduCluster Finland Home Office
  • Acting as an officially authorised signatory for the company branch

School Leadership and Operations

  • Promoting the school’s organisational values, including shared leadership and innovative pedagogical leadership practices, tools, and activities
  • Ensuring the effective implementation of all school activities and operations
  • Leading and developing recruitment processes in collaboration with the Academic Senior Leadership Team and ECF home office
  • Supervising and supporting the Senior Leadership Team
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of:
    • National and Finnish Accreditation
    • Educational Plan
    • Educational Report
    • Financial audit
  • Coordinating staff professional development (PD) processes Principals and the ECF Home Office

Parent and Community Relations

  • Building and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders
  • Supporting strong cooperation and partnerships with parents

Additional Responsibilities

  • Carrying out any other duties as requested by the EduCluster Finland Home Office

Required qualifications

  • Teacher qualification from a Finnish university
  • Principal qualification from Finland

Experience: Should ideally have at least 6 years of experience as a school principal or in school administration, OR at least 8 years of experience in the educational field, in addition to no less than 3 years of administrative experience.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong educational leadership experience within the Finnish comprehensive school system and/or international K–12 schools
  • Proven ability to lead curriculum development and implementation aligned with Finnish and international standards
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, school development, and continuous improvement
  • Effective leadership and supervision of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Strong cross-cultural leadership skills and sensitivity to Qatari culture and values
  • Sound knowledge of Ministry of Education regulations, compliance, and school inspections (Qatar or comparable context)
  • Strong operational awareness, including budgeting, staffing, and resource management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with parents, staff, and external stakeholders
  • High level of professional English proficiency (written and spoken); Arabic is an advantage
  • Ethical, student-centered leadership style with a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and wellbeing
