Finland International School (FIS) Race Course is the first-ever Finnish IB World School in India, positioning itself as a true pioneer and thought leader in international education. Located in South Mumbai, the school has achieved significant milestones in a remarkably short time.

FIS Race Course received IB Diploma Programme (DP) and IB Career-related Programme (CP) authorisation in record time, is currently an IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Candidate School with the authorisation visit scheduled for early 2026, and offers a Finnish International Curriculum–based Early Years and Primary programme. In 2025, the school was recognised by Education World, India’s leading education publication, for its outstanding performance as a progressive new school. Head of School

As the school enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking a visionary Head of School who can build on this strong foundation and lead the community forward with clarity, purpose, and inspiration.

The Head of School will be a strategic, pedagogical, and community leader who empowers a diverse team of professionals with unique capabilities and experiences. The successful candidate will articulate and implement a clear pathway for: Students to thrive academically while developing socially, emotionally, and physically. Teachers and administrators to feel empowered, supported, and motivated. Innovation to flourish through research-informed practices and continuous professional learning. This is an opportunity to shape a flagship international school that blends Finnish educational philosophy, IB frameworks, and the Indian context into a coherent, future-oriented whole.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of School will be responsible for:

  • Drives a vision grounded in equity, equality, and student well-being, and nurturing a school culture aligned with the school’s values and mission
  • Leads standards of excellence across academics, sports, and creative and performing arts, with a strong focus on sustainability
  • Empowers the pedagogical leadership team to design inclusive, personalised, and differentiated learning practices
  • Builds a strong learning community by actively engaging parents through dialogue, workshops, and collaborative initiatives
  • Leads and supporting teacher professional development and training initiatives through effective delegation and mentoring
  • Maintains continuous and transparent dialogue with the School Board to plan, review, and implement strategic priorities
  • Drives admissions strategies in collaboration with the leadership and admissions teams
  • Mentors administrators to ensure consistent implementation of standard operating procedures across areas such as uniforms, cafeteria, transportation, and HR
  • Ensures high academic quality across the school in alignment with all accrediting and authorising body requirements
  • Works closely with the school’s Marketing Team to strengthen brand positioning and visibility locally and internationally

Required qualifications

  • Teaching qualification from a Finnish university
  • Principal qualification
  • Minimum five years of experience as a teacher and three years of experience as a Head of School, School Principal, Vice Principal, or Deputy Head. Experience in the IB programmes is preferable
  • Qualification transcript is mandatory
