Teaching practice at Um Nasser Finland Preschool

Um Nasser Finland Preschool was established with the local partner S Eleven Educational in alignment with the Bahrain Vision 2030.  The EduCluster Finland operated Preschool is located in Riffa, Bahrain and opened its doors in January 2025.

Um Nasser Finland Preschool provides high-quality bilingual (English – Arabic) early childhood education and care for children aged two to five, covering prenursery, nursery, KG 1, and KG 2. The Preschool is led by a Finnish principal, Ms. Leena Merikallio, and has Finnish mentor teachers working in close collaboration with local teachers.

The curriculum is based on Finnish National Core Curriculum for Early Childhood Education and Care, integrating Finland’s renowned pedagogical practices and play-based learning approach with Bahraini standards, culture, and educational philosophy. By combining the strengths of Finnish education with Bahrain’s values, the Preschool fosters a nurturing environment that prioritises wellbeing and equips young learners with the skills needed for a globalised world.

We are offering to our trainees:

  • An exceptional opportunity to gain practical experience in a newly opened preschool, following the Finnish Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) approach, while being part of a nurturing and innovative learning community.
  • Guidance and mentorship from highly qualified early childhood educators who are passionate about supporting and developing future educators.
  • The chance to build hands-on experience in teaching and caring for children across different early learning stages.
  • A unique cultural experience to immerse yourself in Bahrain’s warm and welcoming society, discover its rich history, vibrant traditions, and diverse community spirit.

We are looking for:

  • Early Childhood Education and Special Education Teacher Trainees, who are:
    • Open-minded, innovative, and committed individuals, passionate about working with children and contributing to their growth and learning.
    • Excited to share their knowledge while also applying Finnish teaching methods and embracing new educational practices in an international environment.
    • Motivated to learn from experienced educators and develop practical skills through hands-on training in a supportive preschool setting.
    • Equipped with a good level of verbal and written English skills to effectively communicate and engage with children, colleagues, and families.

The trainee is expected to arrange and cover the costs for accommodation, flights, VISA, transportation, and life in general.
